Implicit Digital Surfaces in Arbitrary Dimensions

چکیده
In this paper we introduce a notion of digital implicit surface in arbitrary dimensions. The digital implicit surface is the result of a morphology inspired digitization of an implicit surface {x ∈ R : f(x) = 0} which is the boundary of a given closed subset of R, {x ∈ R : f(x) ≤ 0}. Under some constraints, the digital implicit surface has some interesting properties, such as k-tunnel freeness, and can be analytically characterized.

Embedded boundary grid generation using the divergence theorem, implicit functions, and constructive solid geometry
To construct finite-volume methods for PDEs in arbitrary dimension to arbitrary accuracy in the presence of irregular boundaries, we show that estimates of moments, integrals of monomials, over various regions are all that are needed. If implicit functions are used to represent the irregular boundary, the needed moments can be computed straightforwardly and robustly by using the divergence theo...
متن کاملNumerical parameterization of curves and surfaces
A method for parameterizing nearly arbitrary implicit plane/space curves and surfaces is introduced. The parameterizations are of class Cn−1 if the given curves/surfaces are of class Cn. The computation of points and derivatives is performed numerically. These parameterizations can be used for controlled determination of points on curves and surfaces and for the application of developed techniq...
متن کاملCurvature formulas for implicit curves and surfaces
Curvature formulas for implicit curves and surfaces are derived from the classical curvature formulas in Differential Geometry for parametric curves and surfaces. These closed formulas include curvature for implicit planar curves, curvature and torsion for implicit space curves, and mean and Gaussian curvature for implicit surfaces. Some extensions of these curvature formulas to higher dimensio...
متن کاملDigital cohomology groups of certain minimal surfaces
In this study, we compute simplicial cohomology groups with different coefficients of a connected sum of certain minimal simple surfaces by using the universal coefficient theorem for cohomology groups. The method used in this paper is a different way to compute digital cohomology groups of minimal simple surfaces. We also prove some theorems related to degree properties of a map on digital sph...
متن کاملFast reliable interrogation of procedurally defined implicit surfaces using extended revised affine arithmetic
Techniques based on Interval and Affine Arithmetic and their modifications are shown to provide reliable function range evaluation for the purposes of surface interrogation. In this paper we present a technique for the reliable interrogation of implicit surfaces using a modification of Affine Arithmetic called Revised Affine Arithmetic. We extend the range of functions presented in Revised Affi...
